How Samantha Jane Embroidery was created
I have always loved anything to do with textiles and crafts and making something beautiful from scratch.
When I was at school, I had plans of having a career in textiles. However, a GCSE D in textiles, lead me on a different journey, first of beauty therapy, and then, more recently, in childcare.
It wasn’t until 2018, when my daughter wanted to learn how to sew and we had private sewing classes together, that I re-discovered my love of creating! It was there, while looking for a unique patch to finish off a skirt that I was making, that I found my passion for embroidery! I made my own, one of a kind patch and I haven’t put the needle and thread down since!
I went from making hand embroidered patches in lockdown, to keeping the embroideries in the hoop frames, personalising them and giving them as gifts to my friends and family for their birthdays and at Christmas. Being a single mum, it was a lonely time during lockdown and this was a way to reconnect with the family and friends that I missed. Their response to my gifts and talent was so heart warming, I’d found a way to be by their side when I was on my own.
At a time when we only had our phones, I’d never felt so disconnected. Giving my loved ones such a special gift was a way to bring back that connection when I couldn’t see them in person.
I’d always be the person that gave flowers, chocolates or wine because I’d left it until last minute! I was always making the promise to myself that I would put more effort in for the next occasion! But if recent years have taught me anything, it’s that we need to celebrate the special occasions now because they are not always promised to us in the future.
I love that I can now help you to create a personalised embroidery hoop keepsake for your special occasions, that your loved ones will keep forever!
I take the time to get to know you and your thoughts and ideas. I may be the one embroidering the design by hand, but all of the ideas come from you! You know what your loved one will appreciate, what will be special to them. I collect these ideas with a few simple questions and visualise your thoughts into a keepsake that they will treasure forever! I help you to reconnect to your loved ones and make them feel appreciated with a gift that captures your special moments.
Opening my Etsy shop in 2020 has allowed me to give up my job in childcare and be at home with my own daughter, who, since lockdown and starting secondary school, suffers with social anxiety. I’m there to help calm her on a morning and I’m here for her when she returns home, worn out from a day full of anxiety. It has strengthened our bond and I will be forever grateful for this opportunity. It is all thanks to you all for supporting me on this journey! I couldn’t do it without you!
